Do you see me with that baby tiger?? I was lucky enough to be able to give this baby tiger a Craniosacral session a few years ago. Do you also see that I'm a little reticent with my right hand? I'm waiting for the tiger to give me the signal that he trusts me.
This is exactly what I do when I work with humans because we establish trust and safety first. Then, and only then, are we able to begin our Remote Trauma Healing™ session, which often includes Craniosacral Therapy.
There are many flavors of Craniosacral Therapy, and they all originated with Dr. William Sutherland, who is considered the "father of Cranial Osteopathy". It was Dr. John Upledger who took this work sanctioned to be performed only by osteopaths, and made it available to anyone in any profession who had the heart to help others.
When Dr. Sutherland first began his cranial inquiry, he was more technically interested in his patients, and used his knowledge of anatomy in correcting lesions. As he matured in his practice, he became more interested in longer rhythms/tides within and around the body that may have a more spiritual side. The Biodynamic approach delves more deeply into these longer rhythms, whereas Upledger beginning classes teach the measurable Craniosacral rhythm, which is 8 to 12 cycles per minute. Both Upledger Craniosacral and Biodynamic Craniosacral can include the technical aspect, and include the spiritual side. As a practitioner from either school matures, there is less distinction regarding their differences. The two varieties are presented below just for your interest, and the baby tiger would probably be curious.
Either school of Craniosacral Therapy provides a gentle therapy that works to release restrictions around the brain and spinal cord in order to allow the body to bring itself back to a place of homeostasis, or balance.
A Craniosacral therapist works by stimulating the body's self-corrective mechanisms. You feel the releases throughout your entire body, and it's very relaxing. At times, you may also experience an emotional release that may be stored in the cells of your body, resulting in a reduction of symptoms, and increased feelings of well-being.
Using Remote Trauma Healing™, I am able to incorporate Craniosacral Therapy within a session, and provide the same benefits as if you were physically in my office with me.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle and subtle whole-body approach to the human experience. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) works with our midline, the Core of Our Being. Practitioners access either the Long Tide, or Stillness, which holds no trauma, to create a resonant field as a resource for the client.
Physically - Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy influences the central nervous system, the brain and spinal column, as well as the fluid that bathes it. This fluid is called the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). From your cranium to the bones of your sacrum, there is an ebbing and flowing of this CSF, which creates a rhythm that the Craniosacral Therapist can feel and facilitate harmony within your body.
Emotionally - Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy provides a deep sense of resourcing within you. It can help heal old traumas that may be stuck in deep primary patterns in your body, as you are provided the space to explore your inner landscape. This resourcing provides a safe container for emotional issues to resolve.
Spiritually - Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy can open doors to both heart and soul, by accessing the Long Tide or deep Stillness, profoundly changing your life.
The study of this form of Craniosacral therapy, as taught by Franklyn Sills, focuses on the formation of a relationship between the practitioner, the Inherent Ordering Principle, the Breath of Life and you.
Franklin Sills was also influenced by the later work of Dr. Sutherland, who believed that the human system was more than bones, fluid, tissues and biochemicals. Dr. Sutherland experienced a “Creative Intelligence”, which orders and organizes the various layers of the human system. A manifestation of this Intelligence is expressed as tidal movement.
The potency of the Breath of Life is palpable as it unfolds throughout the many layers of your body. This Biodynamic ordering process expresses an inherent treatment plan to resolve the inertial resistance in your body. The inertia is created from unresolved trauma of life experiences becoming encapsulated within your system.
The practitioner is trained to sense different levels of Stillness, and thus palpate the expression of the system as the treatment unfolds according to its own Ordering Principle. It is a gentle and subtle whole body approach to the human experience. I have completed the 3 year program to be certified as a BCST and RCST® (Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist & Registered Craniosacral Therapist®).
Upledger Craniosacral Therapy is a scientifically based system of bodywork pioneered and developed by osteopath Dr. John Upledger. following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics. While Craniosacral Therapy can be used to treat a variety of problems, it is most well known for its effectiveness in identifying and treating problems involving the cranium, spine, structural alignment, and also for healing from emotional trauma. If you suffer from back, neck, or shoulder pain, headaches, TMJ, fibromyalgia, arthritis, or anxiety, Upledger Craniosacral Therapy has proven a most effective modality.
Upledger Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
A certified therapist releases restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. I have completed both the Techniques and Diplomate Upledger training program with certifications (CST-T & CST-D), and have continued post-graduate work well over the past two decades.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, Craniosacral Therapy is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
